Forums/Art&Fun: Luciano Pavarotti was one of the first to perform alongside pop and rock stars. Will the trend continue?

Can classical opera die out as a “pure” genre?

Not being a great fan of opera, viewing it as I do as classical music for those with short attention spans who need 'spectacle' to keep them interested, I can't say I'll be hoping for more of such partnerships. That said, the passing of Luciano is a big loss. The guy had a great voice.

I certainly hope so, music is boundless in its potential for creativity.

I think it will, because there are some other singers following in his steps. But hardly anyone could equal him. Luciano Pavarotti, his voice and talent were unique.
Being Italian myself, I am very sad for this loss.
