I'd go back to year 33 AD and fall at the feet of Christ. What an experience it would be to speak to him and touch him then be made whole. I'd also think about going back to snatch the fruit out of Eve's hand before she could take a bite.

I'd like to go back to 1913 and make sure Nicolas II, stays out of WWI, thus changing the 20th century history, DRAMATICALLY!
No red commies, no stalin, no hitler, and lots of happy people :).

1800 - the Russian Tsar's Palace. Russia actually had a shot at becoming the World's Superpower in 1800, it'd be intersting if I could stage a coup and get Speransky as emperor. Oh, and I get to meet Suvorov, someone whom I think was the World's best military leader. Russians have a tendency to have great military leaders and not so great national leaders and diplomats. I mean having a guy like Suvorov and not even able to take over the Ottoman Empire, tsk, tsk, tsk.

I was also thinking of traveling to 1943 and checking out the Red Army at Kursk, but I don't think I'd get a real great view, the tanks didn't exactly pass smog check.

Then I was thinking of traveling back to Sun Tzu's time, and seeing him write that document thingy - the Art of War - the greatest military strategy book ever written, the Neocons should read it sometime, it's full of common sense, something they lack completely, totally and utterly. But that time period is too much work.

Traveling to the Civil War Era would also be a nice trip, but we (intelligent Americans who at least knew to vote for Gore and not live in Florida) know everything about it, so it wouldn't be as exciting.

You can agree or disagree with a policy of a country, me being Canadian, neighbor of the united states, am not happy with many thinks there government doze, but referring to the American people "dumbass Americans" it is not only insulting, but hiding behind keyboards when we insult is also cowardly,.

Id travel back to Jerusalem in 1187 and make sure Saladin lost the battle of Hattin, thus possibly change the outcome of the loss of the -christian- Holy Land to the moslems. 9/11 is in my opinion a result of "giving way" to the rise of Islam from the middle ages and onwards. (Oh, and yeah, dumbass americans too) ;)

I would like to travel back to 1959 Cuba and experience the thrill and excitement of the revolution - to see Castro speak in person and to be part of building a brave state free of US domination.

The late 19th century, from about 1890 through to 1914. It was the most beautiful of times in every way, artistically especially with the greatest music being written by the greatest composer EVER, Rachmaninov. His Symphony No.2 in E minor will never be surpassed!

I love Shakesphere and other writers, and I am a big romantic, I love life and that's my doctrine or faith, so it would have to be a time when romantic fascination and ideas where at it's hieght, like today. Sure these are troubled times, but also a time where humanity has reached the highest of hieghts in all spheres, so i guess i just don't want to go to the past, just travell into the future like everyone else and be a very good and beautiful human being to the people I love. I am a poet myself, and i have read some poetry and books, i want to read more.

Well i'm a Science Fiction addict. I used to watch Star Trex every night before I went to sleep when it was a series. When Star Wars came out I was one of the first to see it.When any space sci-fi movies come out i'm the first to see it.So I would like to travel to the future when I can say beam me up Scotty. And I could have an interactive relationship with a computer with a sexy voice. Maybe the computer would be very pleasent to look at and be very curvaous.Uncovering the mysteries of the universe would keep us busy.

paradox theory is . interesting. i mean so say i go back in time and kill my grandpa. that means he never married grandma and my dad was never born and thus consquentially, i was never born. but if i was never born who killed my grandpa? this is one reason i think time travel is a bad idea, even if it was possible.

however, i do admit it would be cool to see constantinople at the peak of its glory.

I would like to travel to Republic of Abkhazia.Well, Abkhazia is fantastically beautiful, for one. It's sub-tropic, has palm trees and beaches and mountains and lakes and friendly people

I think it would be near impossible for safe time-travel, but here it goes.
First, I would love to go back to China with the Red Army during the 30's and 40's and see the founding the modern country and if it is anything like Edgar Snow described it. Frankly, I am a mild history nut and would give my left hand to be able to see history in the making first hand. But there are times that I would rather not go to like the time of the Spanish Inquisition.

The time of the Vikings, 800-1200 AD maybe 1200 AD. Their exploration of the known world and settlement and economic development (trading) along the great rivers of Europe was phenomenal considering the size of their combined populations. Known as the Rus in your neck of the woods they did a lot to force Europe out of the dark ages and the dogma of the church. Their Warrior culture and blond hair is evident throughout Europe yet today. Oh, by the way, it was during this 400 year time frame of Global Warming that gave them the opportunity to colonize the inhospitable lands of Greenland, and the like. We are brothers after all.

Matthew nice plan but remember not to take the titanic:)
reading all the posts, made me remember the paradox theory.Dont you think that if we do start travelling in time that we will alter the future?
Or like someone once said that you cannt alter the future.
For example, say you travel in time to kill your grandfather so that you are never born. The fact that you are making that journey alone is prove that you failed in your attempt before you even started.
How do others feel about the paradox theory?

If this were possible i'd probably choose to go to 1907-1914 and travel across the Atlantic on one of the big White Star or Cunard Ocean Liner's.

Or go to Angkor Wat at its height.
