Aleksandr Luchaninov
Aleksandr Luchaninov is a reporter for XL Reports on RT.
Aleksandr joined RT's newsroom when it launched in 2005, working as a broadcast journalist for more than a year before becoming a reporter.
He filmed more than a dozen 26-minute reports on the world’s most burning issues in some of its most troubled regions. Luchaninov worked in Georgia during the violent clashes between police and protesters in November 2007, witnessed the Abkhazian army’s successful operation against illegal Georgian troops in August 2008 and spent several weeks following the proclamation of Kosovo’s independence.
His reports cover various topics from the treatment of mental illness in Russia to the struggle for Arctic underwater riches and the preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Aleksandr worked as a news reporter for RT before joining the XL Reports team.
Highlights of Aleksandr's career include reporting live from the scenes of a deadly hospital fire in Moscow and a fatal plane crash in Samara, along with broadcasting exclusive interviews with major figures in European politics.
Aleksandr graduated from Moscow State University's Faculty of Journalism.
Sport is Aleksandr's main hobby, along with literature, travelling and geography.
He is fluent in Russian, English and Serbian.
