Aleksey Yaroshevsky

Aleksey Yaroshevsky is a roving reporter at RT.

Yaroshevsky travels where news happens, be it in Moscow, Pyongyang, Tehran, Havana or Yangon.

In August 2006, Aleksey was the only western journalist to report from North Korea's Liberation Day celebrations. His trip culminated in a 26-minute documentary on life in North Korea, against the backdrop of increased tensions with the west.

Shortly after, he spent a month in Iran, where he reported on the country's nuclear programme and its dispute with the international community.

In Havana, Aleksey covered a large military parade which marked the 80th birthday of one of the world's longest serving leaders, Fidel Castro.

Aleksey was live on air for more than 30 hours in the Russian resort city of Sochi on the night it won the right to host the 2014 Olympics.
Aleksey went behind the scenes of the boxing unification bout of the decade, when Russia's Sultan Ibragimov took on Ukraine's Vladimir Klitschko. Both fighters took off their gloves and chatted exclusively to Yaroshevsky.

Since April 2007, Aleksey has been more often involved in the making of 26-minute special reports for RT. His works include a feature on early parliamentary elections in Ukraine, the anniversary of Alexander Litvinenko's death and a story about the ghost city of Pripyat near Ukraine's Chernobyl. In 2007 his news report on the Chernobyl Anniversary received a high commendation from the panel of jurors at the Association of International Broadcasters' Media Excellence Awards.

He also filmed a report about life in Myanmar before the Nargis storm. Aleksey became the first western journalist in many years to be allowed to extensively film in the Asian country.

Aleksey has a bachelor's degree in English and Chinese studies from the Moscow State Linguistic University. He speaks Mandarin, Spanish, Ukranian and Afrikaans.

His hobbies include photography and basketball.
