Roman Kosarev

Roman Kosarev is a sports correspondent for RT.

Roman’s work takes him through a wide spectrum of sporting events. His assignments have included Class 1 powerboat racing, ice hockey and football. He has also filed reports on the development of golf in Russia and disabled sports.

During his time at RT, Roman has interviewed stars from a range of sports, including football legends Michel Platini and Franz Beckenbauer, and F1's most successful debutant, Lewis Hamilton.

Before becoming a journalist, Roman ran a successful recruitment business in California. In Moscow, he got into property and specialised in marketing commercial real estate.

Roman's family left the Soviet Union for Cyprus in 1989. In 1998 he moved to the U.S., where he enrolled at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Seven years later Roman returned to his homeland. He now admits that it was one of the best decisions in his life.

Growing up in a diverse and multicultural environment gave Roman an opportunity to gear up his language skills. He is fluent in English, Greek and Russian.
