Contemporary Art Center 'Winzavod'

Winzavod (Russian for ‘winery’) is a true former wine producer in the heart of Moscow. It represents an exhibition complex in an industrial section behind the Kursk Railroad Station. Once the new art center was opened four of Russian most prestigious contemporary galleries (XL, Aidan, M&J Guelman, and Regina) moved here. Seven buildings with a total space of 20,000 square meters also hold art studios, a photography studio, an advertising agency, an avant-garde clothing store, an art supply store, and a stylish cafe.

Zhiguli

Zhiguli bar&restaurant takes its name after the USSR’s most popular homebrewn beer. A bar with the same name existed in the very center of Moscow from the sixties and was immensely popular. The current venue has a kitschy, Soviet feel with lots of nostalgic goodies on the menu, such as herring, crayfish and good quality draught beer.

Rai

Rai («Рай») – translated as ‘Eden’ – is a relatively new nightclub in Moscow. It has pretty much the same audience and music (House) as Dyagilev. Bar prices range from $15 for alcohol-free drinks to $25 for a cocktail, like a Mohito. The club’s interior reflects the designer’s vision of paradise – naked female sculptures and a huge green snake which coaxed Eva into eating the banned apple – all hanging over your head. The club is infamous for long traffic jams at the entrance. So avoid driving down the one-way street. Instead, walk several metres down the riverside.
