Madonna tackles AIDS in Africa

Published 23 May, 2008, 11:19

Pop Queen Madonna has presented a documentary ‘I am because we are’ at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is about the lives of children in Malawi, who are orphaned by AIDS.

“I made a conscious twist to tell this story. It’s very important for me to do it. I felt a sense of responsibility and connection to children of Malawi and to the state of emergency that I witnessed going there the first time. The stories were so heroic and the hardships endured by children were so horrible that I thought this movie has to be made,” Madonna said.
