A teenager in Florida is suspected of trying to poison her mother. The 16-year-old was allegedly adding seasoned salt to food she cooked for the family which caused allergic reaction in the woman, reports The Pasco Tribune.
Lenna Mercer-Goodwin was baffled by several ‘unexplained’ allergic reactions after eating food she normally didn’t have an aversion to.
Her husband William Goodwin called for an investigation into the possible connection between his stepdaughter Christina Shehow and the incidents.
On Tuesday, Christina was detained at school after she confessed to deliberately adding seasoned salt to her mother’s food.
This was confirmed by Christina’s 11-year-old sister who said the teen sprinkled salt on the food she cooked. The girl said her sister threatened to ‘beat her to death’ if she spoke out.
The State Attorney's Office is set to review the case.
Christina Shehow is now in her biological father’s custody and is barred from contacting her mother and sister.
