Blondes of the world, unite!

They're blonde and proud of it. Some 50,000 activists have started a campaign to name May 31 as Russia’s National Blondes day. The group is widely represented on Russian Internet Social Networks as well as having its own registered movement.
Some supporters of the idea have even taken to the streets. Campaigners have signed a petition for Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and have taken part in a motorcade.
Similar actions are planned in other parts of Russia.
Meanwhile, Russia’s most successful blondes have been awarded with the “diamond heel” prize at the annual celebration in Moscow. The ceremony aims to ruin the dumb blonde stereotype highlighting their achievements, without forgetting the good old blonde jokes.
However, the “diamond heel” ceremony is not enough for the blondes of Russia to fight the bimbo image. Now they are forming their own political party, the Party of Blondes, which is successfully recruiting reinforcements.
According to stylist Ekaterina Sokolova, about 50 % of her clients come to dye their hair blonde - and the figure is growing.
“Blondes in Russia are not going out of style. I think partly because blondes have sun in their hair and we need more sun in Russia. The colour also makes women look more innocent and harmless, hence all the blonde jokes. It's easier to make fun of those who look like they can not say anything back,” she said.
The Blonde Party will establish itself as Russia's newest political force as it aims at recruiting 50,000 members. Anyone is welcome to join – from those who are blonde on the inside to those who simply love blonde.
