Police arrested some 20 people and closed six stations after thousands of revellers spent the day partying on London Underground, marking a ban on alcohol there that comes into effect on Monday.
The measure was announced by London’s new mayor Boris Johnson.
Drinkers in unusual costumes sang and danced as they enjoyed their last legal tipple in the British capital's metro.
But the party atmosphere was ruined as scuffles broke out, and several assaults on staff members were reported.
