With seven weeks left before the Beijing Olympics, the 15th Znamensky Brothers Athletics Memorial Tournament has been held in the Moscow region. The event was attended by many stars of track and field.

men's 100 metres, coming home in 10.1 seconds.

There was a home success un the women's 100 metres with Evgeniya Polyakova, setting the trend for Russian dominance of the women's sprints.

The rain was not enough to stop Anastasiya Kapachinskaya who won the 400 metres. She was followed home with her compatriots Lyudmila Litvinova and Tatyana Veshkurova in second and third.

The 2004 Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky won the men's 800 metres, though he says he can >still do better.

The Russian crowd were given a few more reasons to celebrate as Evgeny Lukyanenko has won the men's pole vault with a tournament record of 5.91 metres.

Russia's Tatyana Lebedeva hardly broke sweat when taking victory in the long jump event.

Blanca Vlasic of Croatia didn't seem to face any real competition in the women's high jump and expects to be flying high again in Beijing.
