'Dr. Hiddink' and his team improve nation’s health

Published 24 June, 2008, 10:27

The number of heart attacks in a country is directly connected to quality of performance of national football teams, say health experts. Doctors report that the heart attack rate has decreased in Russia and the general psychological state of the nation has become better due to success at Euro 2008 championships.

Nevertheless, they say football fans still should make efforts to take a hold on themselves, as not only defeats but victories can become causes of heart attacks.

Cardiologists have even introduced the term ‘a football heart attack’.

According to the estimations of German scientists, in the last two decades about 40,000 people have died from a heart attack while watching football matches.
