Russian veteran film-makers honoured

The President of the Moscow International Film Festival, Oscar-winning director Nikita Mikhalkov, has invited friends and colleagues to dinner in honour of veteran film-makers in Russia. His fund, which he established a year ago, has been successfully helping those in need overcome financial and social difficulties.

The fund is named after one of Nikita Mikhalkov's most famous movies “Urga: the Territory of Love” and is aimed at helping Russian actors through financial difficulties, medical treatment, insurance and social needs.

Nikita Mikhalkov says his main task is to safeguard veterans' interests.

“The most important thing for me is to make those we are helping feel better. That's what matters. Of course, our fund cannot resolve all pressing problems, but in the last six months a lot of things have been done for Russian veteran film-makers,” he said.
