Joy and relief for Ossetian parents

A new South Ossetian has come into the world as the devastated region slowly gets back to normal.
The newborn girl's parents sheltered in the mountains as fighting approached their village.
“Thank God they didn't reach our village,” said the relieved father, Albert Tuvaev. “First God saved us and then the Russian army. It was a nightmare, a genocide against our small nation. Now my newborn baby gives hope not only to South Ossetia but to the whole world.”
Manana Kochieva, a nurse who helped deliver the baby, says a new generation will have to replace all the young men who died in the conflict, which many have labelled “genocide”.
“Now we need many women to give birth to babies. I believe even older ladies should do it. I will become a grandmother soon, but I'm going to have more children, at least three more!” she said.
