Tattoo capital Moscow

Published 24 April, 2009, 18:42

The roots of tattoo art go back to ancient times. For the third year running, tattoo artists from around the world have gathered in Moscow to share their expertise at both traditional and cutting edge skin art design.

For three days running, April 24 through April 26, 150 tattoo masters from around the world will strut their skill and art, tattooing bodies of those who are willing to get a lifetime and temporary body picture.

There are all sorts of people who are attending the festival – from representatives of youth subcultures to young professionals, whose bodies are sometimes covered with tattoos from neck to toes.

”Luckily, in my permanent job we don’t have a dress code,” said interpreter Marina Sviridova, with a huge flower tattoo on her shoulder. “But if I have to interpret at any official meeting, I don’t mind wearing sleeves.”

The festival will also feature ethno and rock-n-roll performances, a tattoo masters' competition in 14 catagories, and other fun events.

Organizers promised lots of surprises and presents to the audience, who will also be involved in the competition process.
