“Fashion is a science of appearances” – this has been proven by doctor of political sciences, and daughter of the President of Uzbekistan, Gulnara Karimova, who’s unveiled her latest collection at Russian Fashion Week.

Karimova is the designer behind her jewelry and clothing brand “Guli”. She took a design course at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology.

She also holds a Masters Degree from Harvard University and represents the former Soviet Republic of Uzbekistan’s in the UN.

The ambitious businesswoman travels a lot, but never forgets about her ethnic roots. Her heart is in Central Asia and it shows in her designs.

Vivid colors, rich fabrics (Gulnara uses only 100% natural fabrics) and striking accessories which would be appropriate for red carpet events, show-off occasions like Moscow’s “Millionaire Fair” (as the titles suggests, a get-together of the rich and famous) or weddings (though, mind you, one shouldn’t be dressed better than the bride!).

A mother of two and a diplomat, Gulnara knows what makes a woman feel like a woman – an over-the-top dress and a couple of diamonds.
