6. Gazprom-Neft

Formerly known as Sibneft, GazpromNeft is a major Russian energy producer focused on exploration and production of oil and gas, with additional operations in oil and gas field servicing, refining, and marketing. In 2007 the company’s proven commercial reserves were estimated at 601.8 million tones, with probably/possible reserves estimated at a further 351.2 million tones. Majority owned by Gazprom, its shares are listed on Russia’s RTS (SIBN) and Micex (SIBN) exchanges.

7. Surgutneftegas

Surgutneftegas is a major Russian oil producer focused on production, exploration oil field development, refining and marketing. It has shares listed on Russia’s Micex (SNGS) and RTS (SNGS) exchanges.

8. NLMK

Novolipetsk Steel, or NLMK, is one of Russia’s largest steelmakers, with operation across mining steelmaking and processing, as well as logistics operations and the management of the Black sea port of Tuapse. The company has a total steelmaking capacity of 9.3 million tones per year. It is listed on Russia’s Micex (NLMK) and RTS (NLMK) exchanges with GDR’s traded in London (NLMK).

9. MMK

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, or MMK, is the largest steel production complex in Russia. Its operations encompass the full suite of steel production from ore preparation to high value steel production, and it produces the widest range of steels of all Russian steel producers. It exports approximately half of its output. Its shares are traded in Russia on the RTS (MAGN) and Micex (MAGN) exchanges, with its GDR’s traded in London (MMK).

10. Evraz

Evraz is one of the world’s largest integrated steelmaking, mining and vanadium business. The company has operations spanning 3 major Russian steel plants, with global operations in Italy, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, the U.S. and Canada, as well as holdings in China, and vanadium operations in South Africa. It also owns and operates the sea port of Nakhodka. Evraz has GDR’s listed on the London Stock Exchange (EVR).
