Prague cake
It can easily be called “Soviet luxury cake” – and can still be found in shops across the country. The chocolaty taste of Prague cake is known across Russia, and is still a popular choice of cake to take along when visiting friends.
Ingredients
- 1 can condensed sweet milk
- ½ lb sour-cream
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup flour
- ½ teaspoonful of baking soda
- ½ lb butter
- 3 teaspoonfuls of cocoa powder
Cooking
Mix half a can of condensed sweet milk, sour cream, eggs, soda, flour and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, bake for 35 minutes at 200 degrees centigrade (390 F). After the cake has cooled, cut it into two flat cakes so that some cream can be put inside – if there’s no special knife in your kitchen for that kind of operation, a fillet knife is a good option.
For cream beat melted butter with the rest of the sweet milk and cocoa powder. Use a third to cream the cake inside and the remaining two thirds to cover the rest of the cake. Let the cake sit a couple of hours before eating.
TIP:
Some cooks cut the cake into three slices and use all the cream inside the cake, and cover the top with melted milk chocolate.
