In basketball, the top dogs of the Euroleague are beginning to emerge as the Top 16 stage of the competition progresses.
On Wednesday CSKA Moscow and Greece’s Panathinaikos registered blowout wins over Cibona and Unicaja respectively.
The Army Men showed great discipline right from the jump, and kept it up until the very end against their Croatian opponents.
They conceded just 61 points in total. Besides they put up 24 three pointers and made 10 of them.
Though Ettore Messina's charges mixed it up a bit in the fourth, it couldn’t save the Croats from a 87-61 battering.
The Army Men are now in full possession of first place in Group H with two wins and no losses.
In the other game in the group, there was a rematch of the 2008 Euroleague quarterfinal with Montepaschi Siena holding off Fenerbache.
The Italians dominated for much of the game and secured a comfortable 87-79 win.
Meanwhile, Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos were able to accomplish what no other team has since 2006. They beat Unicaja at home to go top of Group G. The latter watched their 23-game home winning streak come to an abrupt end 81-69.
And finally, Partizan Belgrade registered their first Top 16 win, seeing off Lottomatica Roma 84-76. So, Partizan now have one win and one loss, while Lottomatica is yet to taste victory in this year's Top 16.
