Elena Dementieva and Serena Williams have passed the third round of Wimbledon after comfortable wins over their opponents.
Dementieva faced Regina Kulikova in yet another all-Russian derby at the tournament. The fourth seed gave just three games away to her young opponent, who was nervous and made too many unforced errors.
The match lasted one hour and ended 6-1 6-2.
Serena Williams advanced to the fourth round by beating Roberta Vinci of Italy 6-3, 6-4.
The two-time Wimbledon champion hit 10 aces, including one on match point, and committed just 12 unforced errors.
This was a milestone 200th Grand Slam match for Serena, of which she has won 172.
Nadia Petrova has avenged Argentines Gisela Dulko for kicking her compatriot Maria Sharapova out of the competition in the previous pound. A tight game saw the Russian claiming a 6-3 3-6 6-4 win.
Another Russian player Elena Vesnina cruised to victory in a game against Dominika Cibulkova 7-5 4-6 6-4.
Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova also needed just two sets to outplay Ai Sugiyama of Japan 6-4, 6-3.
In men’s draw, Roland Garros surprise finalist Robin Soderling continues to prove that his success in France was not down to luck.
The Swede needed just three sets to end the tournament run of Nicolas Almagro of Spain. He never faced a break point, and won 7-6 6-4 6-4.
Now he’ll have chance to take revenge on the man, who defeated him at Roland Garros – Roger Federer.
The Swiss, considered the main favorite to claim the Wimbledon trophy in the absence of World No. 1 Raphael Nadal, has beaten Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in four sets.
Federer looked set for victory after easy wins in the first two sets 6-3 6-2, but Kohlschreiber didn’t give up without a fight.
The German took the third on tie break, but only to be thrashed 6-1 in the third.
