“Cristiano Ronaldo will never pay off for Real Madrid”

Real Madrid will never be able to sell enough T-shirts to pay off the record transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, says financial analyst Dirk Müller, Bild newspaper reports.
“All those super buys are just a folly, especially in the current situation. It seems there’s no such thing as a world financial crisis,” Müller noted.
Real Madrid spent £80 million ($131 million) to acquire Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United during the summer break.
“Real had to take huge bank loans to buy Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka. From the financial point of view the transfers of the Spanish club as well as of some other football giants are absolutely unwarrantable. Despite their intentions, they won’t be able to sell their T-shirts to every man on the planet,” he added.
The financial analyst stressed the Portuguese football talent is not doing a job that should be paid so well.
“Cristiano Ronaldo entertains several dozens of thousands of people once a week and gets € 11 million a year for it… And Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, is responsible for 80 million people and her salary is just €350.000 a year. The level of responsibility doesn’t reflect the earnings,” Müller explained.
He also voiced a prognosis that the biggest clubs in the world may collapse very soon if the banks stop giving them loans.
