Russian boxer Drozd defends continental titles

Russian cruiserweight Grigory Drozd has defended his continental belts against American Darnell Wilson in Moscow. Wilson was unable to continue after the tenth round handing pretty boy Drozd a technical knock out.
Grigory Drozd just got another step closer to a shot at the world title. This latest victory brings his win tally to 32.
It had seemed there was the minimum of animosity between the fighters right before the bout, but it all changed once they stepped into the ring.
The referee even stopped the fight on a couple of occasions asking the fighters to show sportsmanship.
The ding-a-ling man Darnell Wilson seemed to have wanted to finish things early, as he was obviously looking for a knock out in the opening rounds.
But Grigory Drozd escaped the American's efforts and returned just as many punches.
The Russian's height was an evident advantage as soon as he began to use it against Wilson, keeping him at a jab's length.
This tactic unnerved the ding-a-ling man as he began to toy with the Muscovite.
After the 8th round, 34-year-old Wilson concentrated on putting all his power into the first punch of any given combination.
And pretty-boy Drozd saw right through those signs of tiring and went for his opponent’s head.
Round ten was all Darnell Wilson could handle, as he had to surrender right after the bell.
In the aftermath, Grigory Drozd said he only gave about sixty percent and was ready to go through all 12 rounds.
“Darnell Wilson was not ready for the pressure I had to offer. I was constantly in front of him and that was something I prepared before the fight. He couldn't handle all that and began to sink very early on,” Grigory Drozd said.
The only question remaining now is when Drozd will get his shot at the world title.
He's been waiting for over two years and now is probably the best time to announce his next step towards boxing glory.
