Kevin Owen
In September 2008, Kevin was awarded Russia's most prestigious TV award of ‘Best News Anchor’.
He's the first foreign national to receive the honour, which was presented by the Russian Television Academy, TEFI, at a ceremony in the Kremlin Palace, Moscow.
Before coming to join us at Russia Today, he was a regular face on Sky News in London and also a familiar voice on the BBC's World Service. He's enjoyed a career in television since the late 1980s.
But he says his move to Russia is his most exciting job yet:
"Russia Today is a great place to be right now, working with dedicated professionals, reaching a global news audience and with ambitious plans for the future."
From hosting a marathon set of live outside broadcasts during coverage of the G8 Summit in St Petersburg, to anchoring a seven-hour "Presidential Election 2008 Special" in our central Moscow studios, Kevin has handled many of Russia Today's biggest news stories since he joined the company two years ago.
He was the first to break the news around the world on Russia Today that Sochi had won the right to stage the 2014 Winter Olympics - a night that was packed full of anticipation and excitement.
Kevin was awarded a post-graduate diploma in broadcast journalism from Cardiff University before launching his early career fronting the BBC Wales nightly news programme 'Wales Today.' Before 'going network' in the UK he was also in the 'anchor seat' at four other British regional TV stations, as well as reporting on location and covering literally thousands of news stories.
When he's not working, Kevin is always busy. House renovations and DIY are usually top of the list - oh - and he does have a fondness for changing his car. Born in Plymouth in the UK, 41-year-old Kevin's favourite colour is green and his favourite food is Thai... or roast beef... or, well, anything!
