Aleksey Yaroshevsky
Aleksey Yaroshevsky is a roving reporter at Russia Today
Yaroshevsky travels where news happens, be it in Moscow, Pyongyang, Tehran, Havana or Belgrade.
In August 2006, Aleksey was the only western journalist to report from North Korea's Liberation Day celebrations. His trip culminated in a 26-minute documentary on life in North Korea, against the backdrop of increased tensions with the west.
Shortly after, he spent a month in Iran, where he reported on the country's nuclear programme and its dispute with the international community.
In Havana, Aleksey covered a large military parade which marked the 80th birthday of one of the world's longest serving leaders, Fidel Castro.
He reported from the Belarus presidential election in March 2006 and the opposition’s stand-off which followed to a plane crash near the city of Sochi and the closing stages of Nur-Pashi Kulaev’s trial, the only terrorist to survive in the Beslan school siege.
Aleksey is a regular visitor to the Balkans, and in early 2007 he reported live from the streets of Belgrade and Pristina on the Kosovo dispute.
Aleksey has a bachelor’s degree in English and Chinese studies from the Moscow State Linguistic University. He speaks Mandarin, French, German, Spanish and Afrikaans.
His hobbies include music, photography and basketball.
