Relief at last as shuttle docks with ISS
U.S. shuttle Discovery has successfully docked with the International Space Station. It's been carrying some vital cargo on board, including a segment of a Japanese research laboratory, Kibo, and parts to repair the ISS’s malfunctioning toilets.
Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoshide will help the Discovery crew of flight commander Mark Kelly, piloy Kenneth Ham, Karen Nyberg, Ronald Garan, Michael Fossum and Gregory Chamitoff to assemble Kibo.
Chamitoff will stay at the ISS for the next six months.
The crew will make three spacewalks before heading back home.
